Torment Weather Report: Lake Mornos supplies water to almost half the population of Greece, but 45 years ago it housed the lost village of Kallio. The sunken remains are now reemerging after hot winters—and even hotter summers—have caused water level to reach all-time lows.
"Water reserves there and at the three other reservoirs supplying Attica, a region of around four million people, which includes Athens, had dropped to 700 million cubic meters (25 billion cubic feet) in August down from 1.2 billion cubic meters (42 billion cubic feet) in 2022," the environment ministry said.
