Coming off of a 30th anniversary documentary, Ride continued the momentum by capitalizing on one the best teams in all of snowboarding today. It was only fitting. We didn't need much convincing to come along for the experience and help materialize Rated R into the physical world. In true RIDE fashion, the approach to this video started with a slow burn(out).
During the winter of 2021- 2022, we tested the waters on a few trips to see what it all could feel like: Iowa, Seattle and, of course, our now infamous Pittsburgh trip. Those trips gave us the whole summer to formulate a plan for the ‘22/23 season. We headed into this past winter with Sav, Jed, Spencer, Jacob, Danimals, Jill, Cole, Mikey, Reid, and some friends all excited and ready to see what the world had in store for us. Oregon, Utah, Minnesota, Norway, Finland, Toronto, and a few other places under the sun were all locations to round out this project.
This video represents a rare occurrence in the flooded landscape of snowboard films. A brand offering a full commitment (cc: the ride accounting department) to the creation of a long-form pedestal piece is far and few between. It's a hard feat to plan, let alone accomplish, yet everything surrounding this project seemed to work out just as it should’ve. You could chalk it up to hard work, and even a bit of luck, but looking back, this full-length speaks to the fundamental values of Ride—tricks, style, and attitude. They’re the three pillars that keep the flame going inside this brand.
We want to extend a special thank you to Jake Durham, Parrish Issacs, and every filmer that came along for the journey of Rated R. Without their commitment, this project would not have seen the light of day. Thank you :)
