The next installment of Anthony Drolet’s PATCHES series is here. This time around, Anthony documents Louif as he spends his first winter in over 15 years at home. For Louif, and presumably everything other snowboarder on the planet, the logistics of a snowboard film have changed. Drastically. The freedom to hop on a plane to a new country is now a longing, as the inconvenience of COVID tests and border closures is a new norm. Yet, when some crews jumped on the first opportunity at lowered travel restrictions this winter, Louif found solace knowing that his winter would begin and end in his rural backyard of Quebec.

So, without the luxury of new environments to facilitate ever-changing perspectives, Louif adopts a different strategy to filming a video part. Louif takes an abstract approach to old spots, where he “reinvents his surroundings” with the same style and prowess that we’ve always loved. Whether he is teaching his son to snurf or backlipping concrete ledges, one thing’s for sure- Louif’s winter will make you miss your hometown or, more realistically, want to move to his.

"A winter spent entirely at home, in Quebec is something I hadn’t done in over 15+ years. Normally I go somewhere new every other week, chasing dream spots and ideal conditions all around the world. This year was different on so many levels. We were constrained to reinvent our surroundings, to look for hidden corners we had missed in the past, and revisit some of the classics that we thought we were done with. It also pushed us to enjoy every little moment spent on and off the board. This video shows what has kept me sane and happy during the the past 12 months, friends, family, and playing with gravity." - Louif
