Sometimes all you need is one line down, then the writing falls into place. It’s a puzzle to describe with any accuracy what this group has done to bring Knights of the Brown Table into existence. Maybe because it’s a mystery in itself that it happened at all. There are two things that stand above the rest in making it work: Butters’ vision and each one of these snowboarders to back it up.
Like the first line when writing, Brock [Nielsen] put down an idea and it took off. He does things his own way and always has, so when he communicated his goal everyone just wanted in. What Brown had already done was nothing but original. Scott Blum, Keegan Valaika, Harrison Gordon, and the crew, they set the rhythm. “...the goal was always snowboarding as much as possible with people you love. Invite who we wanted, go where we wanted. Shovel less, snowboard more,” as Keegan said. The foundation was built, the hiatus taken, and the slow burn of hype started to build.
Who wouldn’t want to add to the next iteration of Brown Cinema? The group came together as naturally as anything, brands and sponsors an afterthought. We’ll make it work. A massive hurdle today, but somehow it did work, and that doesn’t happen without every person truly wanting it. The motivation was communicated to the brands, funds raised, all that was left to do was spend it—and snowboard. Then just a nice 6-month-long edit for Brock, but this is where his genius thrived.
Of all the characteristics present with this crew, mediocrity was always absent. Truthfully, they are incredible at what they do because they chose to do what they wanted. That’s when the sublime happens, the freedom to choose, and that door was open season two years in a row. It woke ‘em up. They let that freedom find them, then they took it for a ride. A ride of all sensations, all emotions, and all the love they needed. But only because they put themselves in that place. Two years of letting the riders do the talking and here we are.
11 Knights around a table. This is them feasting. Here’s to this ride and the next.
