The smell of a freshly printed magazine is the best smell in the world. Another week, let's get into it.

Torment Weather Report: Security cams might have captured the cause to the deadly Maui fires. Surely, there's a lot of factors in play, but one of ABC News' latest videos (seen below) shows captivating evidence of a large flash in the woods a day before tragedy struck.

August 7th @ 10:47 PM: Potential tree falling on a power line. There are also ten sensors in that community that showed a very sharp drop in electrical voltage at precisely that same time.

August 8th @ 6:37 AM: Raging winds, multiple power lines down, and uncontainable fires.

Speculative causes aside, the most pressing matter is safety. Snowboard Mag reached out to Maui native, Lyon Farrell, to check in on his community. Lyon talks about the fires, how they've impacted his community, and what everyone can do to help. Full article on Snowboard Mag's site.

"One day you might be shuttling supplies, another day you might be over there helping directly, another day you might be prepping meals, another day you might be making a house nice for someone, another day you might be just throwing wood into a wood chipper–it just doesn’t stop. It’s just like everything is unfolding and then on top of that, finding out more and more information of like what’s actually happening over there, what the real death toll is. It’s just constantly evolving."

Torment correspondent, Keenan Cawley, has been writing with us for a while now. Que his Torment Summer Retreat poem, or Red Bull event recaps (1,2) if need be. Needless to say, his work transcends any Torment coverage, and his latest personal project centers on a short story about a dude getting fired from his job for drawing with a crayon.

He printed out the (true?) story, added some images, and threw the zine up on his website for purchase. Above is the one of the first iterations of Claustrophobia—nice context for the final product.

Sage Kotsenburg spent the last bit of summer in the Southern Hemisphere. No music, just raw footage and the sounds of turns in Chilean powder.

"With 3 feet of fresh we linked up with our friends at Dos Tiempos, grabbed some sleds and headed out into the backcountry for 3 days of insane riding."

Please don't Torment me by saying no :(. Things will fall in place at prom?

We're a long ways from high school, but there's still a distant memory of this special night going down in the spring. That gives some of you a whole year to one up this. Students, take notes.
