Gooooood boy. Another week, let's get into it.
Torment Weather Report: La Niña persists. Though it’s influence on this winter is quickly waning, it seems like some formerly rainy, and formerly dry spots are finally getting ample snow. Unfortunately, while that means a ton of fun for most people, it also comes with inherent dangers. There were 2 avalanche fatalities and a snow suffocation in Washington last week, and an avalanche death in France as well. Please read your local avalanche forecasts, ride with a buddy/buddies, and be conservative in your decision making. Everyone wants you home at the end of the day/trip/season. ❤️
After a delayed start to winter for much of the globe, we are finally transitioning from content consumption season to content creation season. Apparently, everyone we’ve ever met is in Japan, and of course it’s very good…
While we’re off to the races vis a vis winter, there are still a few video projects with last year’s footage dropping, and we wanna keep giving hype where hype is due.
First up we’ve got NEGOSOKI. Japanese spot-connoisseurs and steeze-emphasizers dodge cops and put a hurting on the steel.
686 has blessed us with another vid this year, following up their veritable masterpiece Atlas 2 with the powder-focused, and also very impressive, Curveball.
There’s a rare rope-tow edit out of the West Coast from Chuuuch, called Back on my Bowlshit. Though we’d suggest the title Hilarious Hats, Complicated Maneuvers.
There’s also more wild boarding out of Japan in Nomadik’s Gypsy II, powder-riding in and around Alpental in Get High on Traverse, a Hirano Bros documentary, a Real Snow-esque edit out of Finland, and somehow the Dustbox ended up on Thrasher? (When was the last time snowboarding found it’s way anywhere near Thrasher?)
In kind of unexpected, but also kind of sensical brand collab news, Nidecker and Sorel are teaming up on a boot and board combo for 26/27. Actually surprising no one has done this one before, considering Ride x Rawlings was a thing at one point, and there was also a confusing, albeit functional looking, Burton x Run DMC collab.
Continuing in the unexpected collabs realm; “Skiergate” continues, apparently. The most recent Bomb Hole Group Chat had a lengthy section devoted to the Jetskis movie we posted, whether we “should” have posted it, and whether ski/board beef is still alive and well. Lucey seems to want the beef to continue… He’s also got some pointers for all you aspiring film-makers and riders; “YOU HAVE TO GO OFF THE END OF THE RAIL.”
The Bomb Hole also hosted their annual “Bomb Hole Beat Down” at Loon Mountain. The live stream is available to rewatch, but we’re mostly mentioning this to point out that the men’s third place winner’s Insta handle is the good homie @buttpuke. Great handle, even better footage in Loser Lap.
Oh, and there was some comp called a World Cup? Isn’t that soccer? Until next week, put your head’s down and plow forward:
