If it’s not sparking something, what’s the point? New stickers next week...
Torment Weather Report: Central Park (in New York y’all) saw more rain in a 24 hour period than it has in the previous 100 years. The flooding was responsible for at least 2 deaths, and winds were forecast to be gusting in the 40-50mph range. Yikes, Happy Halloween we guess?
Really getting into the swing of things in terms of premieres, videos dropping, sponsorship shake ups, AND new product/brand offerings, so let’s jump into it, we got a lot to cover.
Over the last few years we’ve found ourselves eagerly anticipating Jake Aaronson’s self-filmed projects. This time he’s back in the streets for the appropriately titled FUCC CITY. Jake battles multiple curved kink rails, a decrepit jersey barrier, and a tractor trailer, all set to the soothing sounds of the Cocteau twins. The vid is up on the site along with photos by Elias Parise.
There’s a film outta New Jersey called Casualties, and one out of typically-snowless Madrid, called Recycle.
It’s giving Kael Hill vibes:
Which was giving Jackass vibes with Mikey Leblanc:
And oh yeah, Dustbox’s annual offering is out, this time it’s called Reptile. Might as well keep the embed train running:
This one has been an open secret for a while, but Thirtytwo is officially making snowboards. And judging by the first four members of the team, some serious maneuvers are gonna go down on said boards.
Speaking of, Pat Fava was on the recent Bomb Hole Group Chat. They talked upcoming plans for the brand, industry shakeups in general, and even covered (hehe) the recent cover controversy. Though if we’re being sticklers, the initial Patreon question seemed to actually be asking if a published photo has to be a frame from the landed trick attempt. Traditionally it hasn’t, but maybe it’s time to go in on that debate as well?
Continuing on in the new brands/offerings arena, Meltdown is a “Women’s and gender minorities snowboard mag” that’s fresh on the scene. Give em a follow.
Union bindings are now also Union Boots. They’re first offering, the Reset Pro, is in shops as of yesterday. If the boots are anything like the bindings, we’re sure they’re gonna be baller. And they better be for 650 big ones…
Armada Skis are now also Armada Snowboards. We’ve got a video introducing some of the team on the site, and an interview with Armada’s Brand Director Tanner McCarty. We’re super hyped on the team, split evenly between men and women; Danimals, Egan Wint, Stefi Luxton, Justin Phipps, Alek Oestreng, Ivika Juergenson, Juliette Pelchat… and the Mike Liddle wrong has been righted!
Issue EIGHT is now only five days away, with the release going down at our annual party in SLC this Saturday. Few switch ups this year, we moved to a new venue (Mutiny Music Collective) for some big warehouse vibes that allows for all the activities. Skating, food trucks, darts to name a few, but gotta pull up to see what else is in store.
Finally, this guy probably doesn’t qualify to go in Meltdown, but his chosen mode of snow-transport is definitely in the minority... Joking aside, fucking respect, this looks difficult. The little kids’ snowboard follow-cam shots?! Chef’s kiss. Take note Jake Aaronson, not everything has to be a static shot.
