You got a kid? You got a liking for the Torment nuclear sticker? The perfect pairing on a Burton Dominant 142cm. Another week, let's get into it.

Torment Weather Report: California, Colorado and Oregon have had a particularly harsh summer battling wildfires, but a new technology (that can be launched out of the back of a pickup truck) is now at the forefront of fire intelligence. Urban Sky, a stratospheric technology startup out of Denver, CO, is launching high-altitude balloons up to 31 miles above the Earth’s surface in an effort to better detect, track, and ultimately prevent the spread of wildfires.

"Equipped with various infrared sensors, the balloons map vegetation density and moisture content on the ground. This data is processed in real time and combined with intelligence about dry lightning strikes and other ignition sources to come up with a 'risk score' for certain locations, effectively pinpointing areas where a fire is likely to break out."

We spoke with Ylfa Rúnarsdóttir last summer for Issue SIX, and that conversation is now live on the site. A little glimpse into her 22-'23 season through the notions of mindfulness, American culture, colors, Google Earth, and Blooom.

Watch her Blooom part, read the interview, and subscribe to it all (if you haven't already).

IV Stuart talks another iconic snowboard spot in our latest series, Spot Dives. Episode two takes you to Burlington High School, a modernist bulding in northern Vermont that helped usher in early 2000's street snowboarding. ICYMI: The first episode takes you to a multipurpose auditorium in central Massachusetts.

A very infamous, heavy ledge deep dive coming up next…

The self proclaimed "President of Skateboarding" just released a new Instagram tribute to professional snowboarders who also skateboard. Of those individuals, you're probably familiar with Scott Stevens, Jed Anderson, Forest Bailey, and Jake Kuzyk—but we'd be remiss to not acknowledge the rider in the above photo. Todd Richards going smith vert in Govy, and you can't forget John Cardiel's iconic boardslide outside Timberline lodge.

A deeper dive into it all with Still Shining, a historical piece on Timberline Resort and the subsequent summer snowboard progression from Issue FIVE.
