Welcome to our first attempt at this. Tuesday News! An easy way to see all the shit that has happened from the last week, or the lack thereof.
First and foremost it's the 1st of the month, so rent’s due, don't forget.
Finn & JJ Westbury (SRD) in association with Riders on Board are throwing a Drive-In movie premier on September 12th in Calgary... the flyers here. In our Covid-19 world this is the only way to truly be safe and still put on a event by bringing people together, so cheers to SRD and Canadians for handling business when it comes to this lousy fucking pandemic. P.S. Dustbox be showing so you know its gonna slap. Be there or be Dust….
In good news, a bunch of major resorts have come out with plans to open on time for the winter. So now everyone can stop panicking that the worst case scenario is going to come true. We can all be grateful for the fact that we love to do an outdoor activity that can be easily enjoyed wearing a face mask, all the while being socially distanced. We’re all just going to have to get used to the idea of reserving a space each day when we wanna go snowboard. OH SHIT PLANNING A DAY IN ADVANCE! HOW CAN WE EVEN BRING OURSELVES TO DO THAT! Quit crying….
Reid Smith was on the Bombhole this week saying all types of shit. It's been a cool contrast having old heads and young bucks expressing their views on our industry and snowboarding in general. Are the days of getting a cover and ender part in a well circulated film and gaining monetary success from it over? There's also something to be said about being a part of a young, up and coming crew. Lesson being, be well organized. Shouts to the Dustbox X Bruhlers collabo they released last week, gotta imagine they sold out quick. These podcasts are doing such a good job of preserving snowboarding history. Keep up the good work Chris and Budz.
This week we posted Danny Kass’ part from the Grenade video Smell The Glove from 2005. This was a recommendation from Sam Taxwood who sees this video part as his all time favorite and the one he enjoys to watch the most before going snowboarding. What happened to the days when you did a bit of everything in a part; Street, BC, Park and contest riding and made it look cool. Maybe one of the best examples of this ever?
In a pretty progressive and rad move, Vans came out this week about their transparency towards how they are handling the lack of diversity within their company and on their teams. Good on them from taking a stand for change.
As we were writing this Freddy Perry sent over a remix raw dog version of his part from Suzy Greenberg 270, its fucking hilarious. Freddy Perry is the funniest person in snowboarding and one darn good boarder. Fact. Check it out. Hey Fred, when is Bench Heaven gonna make it back on the internet?
We're in the process of laying out the pages of Issue THREE, so hang in there, should be ready at some point this fall.
