Arthur Longo & Parker Szumowski Take The Golden Road to Samarkand

Basically a yellow brick road straight to ancient Uzbekistani monuments, but you’re missing board bags, eat way too much shashlik, and rely entirely on Google Translate and Afghan hash.

When was the last time you saw a snowboarder get a horse-assisted tow-in to ollie over a Lada? Chances are you don't know what a Lada is (had to check the Wiki ourselves), but if you’re claiming more than once, you’re lying. We’d put a paycheck on the fact that this comes as a first from Parker Szumowski and Arthur Longo, and while we’re on that tip, we can’t say we’ve seen many snowboard projects coming out of Uzbekistan either.

Judging by the Wasted Talent anecdotes,, two of our favorite boarders took the long road to Samarkand, immersing themselves in the Soviet-era culture while hitting dilapidated ski resorts and untouched side streets whenever time allowed. New country, new cuisine, new beers — we like to think this racked up a long list of (mostly) accidental NBDs: first snowboarder to ride Amirsoy in jeans, first ollie over a Lada in Chingman, probably not the first bender in Tashkent, but definitely the first time feeling like a red-headed millionaire in Bukhara (1 USD = 12,923 SOM). Hungover snowboarders touring the Gur-e-Amir Mausoleum in Samarkand was new to us too. And honestly, that still barely scratches the surface.

Seems like a return trip is in order.
