We're glad Fredrik Kalbermatten came to us with his footage this year. His shots are not just a season edit—rather they are a needed trilogy that highlights the comprehensive alpine terrain of the Swiss Alps.
Simply put, Fredrik explored his home, Saas Fee, in a fashion that boasts its three distinctive terrains: woods, glaciers, and couloirs. What came of his eventful winter is three edits, each more exploratory than the last.
Here is the first of three installments, the woods. Within the Larch forest—the highest tree line in the alps—Fredrik finds himself navigating steep pillow lines and narrow gullies. No small feat.
"Simply put, Fredrik explored his home resort, Saas Fee, in a fashion that boasts it's three distinctive terrains: woods, glaciers, and couloirs. What came of his eventful winter is three edits, the each more intimidating than the last. Watching Frederik Kalbermatten move through alpine terrain makes him seem weightless. He glides through space like an astronaut, gracefully bouncing from pillows, landing in unforgiving areas of the mountain that most people would not even dream of entering. The cauldron of his hometown, Saas Fee, the pearl of the alps, offers many heavy lines, from hidden tree runs to crevasse-riddled glaciers and high altitude couloirs. Please let yourself be swept away in the following trilogy, SPACÉ."
