The phrase “premiere season” tends to conjure several guttural reactions. In no particular order, they range from hungover, hyped, “haven’t seen you a while,” and “how the f*&$ did they do that?”

This past Friday, at the Wallflower Collective in Burlington, Vermont, the entire spectrum of premiere emotions was on full display as Rome showed their latest flick, Swarm. In insanely rare form, the entire cast of boarders was present and really helped pour gas on the fire. The bar was packed to the rafters with a hometown crowd showing out in full force to cheer on this cast of new faces with heavy full parts.

Swarm was filmed entirely by the riders themselves, and the crew came out swinging. Joey Leon and Noah Coville were the primary eyes behind the lens, with Joey nursing a torn ACL this season. To help fill the roster, Noah’s brother, Micah Coville, was tapped to join the squad. As the year progressed the gang morphed to include Drake Warner, Derek Lemke, Maggie Leon, Casey Savage, and the newest pro, Lauren Derminio. Even the big homie Poly and local ripper Conner Cav managed to clip up and round out this urban beat down.

Smash cut to an unseasonably warm Friday night in Burlington, the sky fades to black and a seething line of hoodies amasses…

With a wildly over-capacity crowd, the energy inside of Wallflower was tangible. Rome photographer Max Lyons was selling his latest photo book, “Fortune 2,” while a full wall was devoted to photos from the season. Drinks were flowing and the vibes were high, as boarders who hadn’t seen each other in months eagerly awaited the madness that was rumored to follow. A packed crowd with a dozen watching from the street let loose every time a trick was landed, or a stair massage issued.

It's cliché but true: you just had to be there. Seeing what this crew got up to last season, with so many families and friends in the audience, was truly something special. No use trying to describe this one, just be ready to view the madness for yourself.

Edited by Devin Bernard, Joey Leon, and Noah Coville, “Swarm” will be live on Torment’s Youtube channel on Monday, October 27th
