There's a term that seems to always come up in discussion, and Austen's re-edit just reminded us of it: the attention economy. It was coined by Herbert A. Simon in the early 1960's, and refers to the the management of information that treats human attention as a scarce commodity. In today's day and age of social media snowboarding, it's more relatable than ever, making it hard to sit through a 15-minute video, let alone a dozen of them coming out on a weekly basis.

Even so, there's no need for a big marketing push to focus our attention on Mr. Sweetin. His latest footage stands out in this sea of clips, taking us to his backyard at Mt. Baker, the deep side country of Brighton and Jackson Hole, and even a last-minute strike in the Selkirk Tangiers.

If you're reading this, then it seems like you're navigating the attention/clip economy well. Still, remember that attention is one of your biggest resources. A person only has so much of it, so choose wisely what clips you put that into.
